Artist info: Paul GeisslerPaul Geissler was born on June 25, 1881 in ErfurtInstead of becoming a businessman, Paul Geissler completed an apprenticeship as a decorative painter.This followed studies in drawing lessons with the painter Sondermann.After Paul Geissler attended the arts and crafts school in Erfurt for 4 years, Paul Geissler became a master student in 1903 with Prof. Max Thedy in the grand ducal art school in Weimar. A Russian grand prince commissioned Paul Geissler with the commission of a private gallery: Already during Paul Geissler's studies he received commissions from the German empress. In the following, his main field of activity was etching Large format etchings. 1912 Paul Geissler lived in Munich and was also elected to the board of the association for original etchings. 1912 - 1914 Paul Geissler undertook European trips to Holland, France, Lichtenstein, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria. From 1918 Paul Geissler was in Garmisch-Partenk irchen resident1928 trip to the USA, Sicily and Italy. Great German art exhibition in Munich 19391943 Paul Geissler was appointed professor.Attention: After his death his etching plates were sold. All subsequently produced etchings lack the original signature Paul Geissler dies on May 30th, 1965 in Garmisch
